ChinaSnap! Diana's Yellow River

Today's ChinaSnap! was submitted by a dear friend of Chinaful's, Diana Cui. Her insightful comments are an asset to this blog, and I'm thrilled to feature her picture of China's Yellow River.  Her account and memories show that a ChinaSnap! doesn't need to be happy or fun, rather it can be wistful and even sad...it only needs to be real.

This is a picture of... the entrance of Yellow River entering to Bohai Sea.

At the time I took this ChinaSnap! I was... amazed but also depressed. The reason that the water in the pictures appear to be yellow is because it contains abundant of silts entering with water of the Yellow River. It is really sad to imagine how desperate the people living in the upper of the Yellow River facing the crisis they are losing their lands without protection and strengthen of sufficient plants, including grasses because of the swallow of the water of the Yellow River.

I remember that... the color of a sea is supposed to be blue, light or deep. The color of the Bohai Sea is also supposed to be blue, but it actually is.

This qualifies as a ChinaSnap! because... it keeps a sign and also a warning for Chinese, maybe also the whole world, of ecological protection. It is not a surprise to see similar scenes other places in China because of the destructive ecosystem of the upper area of rivers with similar reason as the Yellow River.
