6,000 Chinese Restaurants + 2 Kinds of Egg Tarts

A friend of mine sent me this LA Weekly article about his dad's dining exploits - 6,000 Chinese restaurants in North America and counting! The kicker is he has a spreadsheet tracking each one. If only I could get my little hands on it...

Alas, all of the reading about Mr. Chan's food exploits had me thinking of a few food loves. One very near to my heart is the egg tart. I've shared my affection for this little pastry before.  It's sweet yet not too sweet, flaky but creamy. It comes in two varieties, caramelized on top (Macanese-style) or not (Hong Kong-style).  They are best served warm, fresh from a bakery that specializes in these treats.  I like to think of egg tarts as a light snack that won't kill my waistline - hey, it's made of eggs, after all.

Thanks Ana! I love chao fan (fried rice). Particularly with bits of pork and shrimp, yum. Glad you enjoy the site!

Egg tarts won't really affect your wasteline lol.
